Our Ministry Teams

Abingdon Baptist Church has developed a series of four ministry teams with the responsibility of caring for the most basic needs of God's people and leading them to experience a deeper spiritual walk with the Savior.  These teams will be lead by the Deacons of the church and will actively seek to call out people from the congregation, yokefellows, whose spiritual gifts can be used in their area of ministry as they organize and implement a ministry of caring.

HOSPITAL VISITATION MINISTRY TEAM
The purpose of this team is to provide spiritual care for those of our members confined to a hospital and those immediately released from hospitalization.  The deacon hospital visitation team will be responsible for communicating with the pastor and staff, information regarding those who are hospitalized and vice versa.

OUTREACH AND NEW MEMBER MINISTRY TEAM
This Ministry Team has as its chief goal, "connecting" with new and prospective members.  This team will plan and implement strategy for making contract with those who have shown interest in becoming a part of the Abingdon Baptist Church Family by their attendance and who have shown interest in following Christ as their Lord and Savior.

CRISIS INTERVENTION MINISTRY TEAM
This Ministry Team will offer ministry to those of our church family who are in a time of crisis (i.e. death, accident, fire, loss of job, divorce, physical needs, etc.).  This team will minister through God's presence as a comfort.  They will bring to bear those resources that our church and community has available for those in crisis.  This team will also be engaged in ministry to inactive members.

HOMEBOUND MINISTRY TEAM
This Ministry Team will minister to the special needs of the shut-ins of our congregation.  This team will discover ways to help our Homebound  members remain connected to their church family.
